Samsung today announced to bring a most essential health feature Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN) for the Galaxy Watches. It will alert users about irregular heart rhythms in the background and alert users if there is a sign of Atrial Fibrillation (AFib). This way users will know their heartbeats more clearly, and get notifications if there is anything wrong. The new IHRN feature has been added to the Samsung Health monitor app.
It will work as a life-saving feature along with ECG & blood pressure. It took Samsung some time to introduce it, whereas Apple users have had it for quite a long time. Even if it has been launched by the company, it will take some more time to reach every user. It has only received a green signal from FDA in the US and MFDS in South Korea. In the coming days, the feature will roll out through software updates on supported Galaxy Watches.
It supports Galaxy Watch 4, Watch 5 & upcoming Galaxy Watch 6 series smartwatches. The first 13 countries will have it. Those countries are the US, South Korea, UAE, Argentina, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Georgia, Panama, Indonesia, Guatemala, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, and Azerbaijan. The other supported regions will get it when the government body allows it. Sadly, there is no news about its debut in the Indian market which already lacks ECG & BP functions.
