Wear OS 3 Update for Fossil Gen 6 is Rolling Out

And finally, Fossil has released a massive Wear OS 3 update for Generation 6 watches. It has been more than a year, users were waiting for this update. With the Wear OS 3 version, users can now unlock new features, services, and changes to the watch. In the past, many times Fossil has postponed the release date. Some people also say it was postponed due to Google Pixel Watch. Now right after the launch of the Pixel Watch, the new version has come to Fossil Gen 6.

The version you will receive on your smartwatch is Wear OS 3.2. Yes, it missed Wear OS 3.5, which is now available on Galaxy Watch & Pixel Watch. The good news is it is better than Wear OS 3.0.

Now take a look at key features, major changes, and other supports. The major change you will notice here is Fossil’s watch skin. It has introduced its skin similar to Pixel Watch. It’s a simple UI, not unlike the One UI Watch interface.

In the new version, you will notice a responsive user interface, new tiles, quick settings, and changed fonts & icons. The Wear OS 3 means you can now use all those exclusive apps and services on your Fossil watch. Apps like Strava, Google Home, WhatsApp Calling support, and some watch faces are only available for Wear OS 3 & later versions, and now you can use them all.

The bad part is Google Assistant is not available for Gen 6, at least for now. It will come later, but instead of that, you can use Amazon Alexa. Yes, the company has partnered with Amazon Alexa to bring voice commands.

From now on, you have to pair your smartwatch with the Fossil companion app. Yes, it will not pair with Google’s app, but with the Fossil app. It has also introduced a new Wellness app with SpO2 tracking, VO2 max, improved sleep, heart rate, and other tracking services.

To update your Fossil watch go to Settings, then System information, and here click on System update. The firmware is releasing slowly so wait for your turn.
